To help you understand these new categories, click on the  this link.

As a further guide here are the SPC's Outlook Probability to Categorically Description Tables.

All of this information can be found on the http://www.spc.noaa.gov website. I strongly suggest you do further reading and regularly check the page for update. I also encourage you to check the Storm Prediction Center Outlooks on a daily basis, click on any day that shows a risk for the area, and read the accompanying text. It will give you a heads up on any upcoming weather. Also check into http://www.weather.gov/pah/ every day to see what the weather will be for our area.  Remember though, these are only tools that are available to help you. A better understanding of our weather can only be learned by studying more about this phenomenon we call weather.

When weather threatens make sure you log into http://www.weather.gov/pah/ for the latest update. If you have a Smart Phone there are a number of apps you can use to look at the radar if you are away from your computer . I use RadarScope but what you chose to use is up to you.
